Service Description

ADHD affects much more than a child's ability to pay attention. Challenges with organization, impulse control, emotional regulation, task initiation, and follow-through can influence learning, behavior, and everyday experiences at school and at home. In this one-hour class, parents will gain a better understanding of ADHD, including its different presentations, how it is evaluated, and why behaviors that may appear to reflect a lack of motivation or effort can indicate underlying difficulties. Participants will be introduced to how ADHD can affect educational performance, the importance of identifying a child's individual needs, and the differences between Section 504 plans and IEPs. Through practical examples, parents will explore accommodations, instructional strategies, and other supports that can help children succeed.
